User Education

At KLE Tech Hubballi, we conduct regular user education programs to help you confidently access and use our library resources. From first-year orientations to database-specific sessions, we’re here to build your research and information literacy skills every step of the way.

Rules & Responsibilities

This policy outlines the acceptable use of computers, networks, and digital resources (including internet and e-resources) by all KLE Tech administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
  • All equipment must be used under the supervision of Library staff.
  • Users must follow standard network etiquette and maintain a polite and respectful environment.
  • Misuse of technology or violation of any policy condition may result in disciplinary action.
  • Impersonating others, sending obscene or inappropriate content, or revealing personal contact information (theirs or others).
  • Disrupting network access for others.
  • Sharing login IDs, passwords, or allowing others to access their accounts.
  • Attempting to access another user’s credentials or files.
  • Downloading content (books, articles, chapters) using bots, crawlers, or downloading software. This violates publisher policies and may lead to revoked access for the entire university.
  • Altering or deleting others’ files or programs.
  • Connecting external devices (e.g., mobile phones or storage devices) to library computers.
  • Installing, copying, or distributing copyrighted software or media without written permission.
  • Using systems for illegal or unauthorized purposes.
  • Creating, sharing, or executing harmful software such as viruses, worms, or Trojans.
  • Accessing or distributing abusive, obscene, sexually explicit, or harassing content. If such material is accessed accidentally, users must report it immediately to Library staff.
  • The network must not be used for mass personal messaging or non-academic email distribution.
  • Users must keep the library clean and maintain its decorum.
  • Each user is responsible for activities under their assigned internet account (issued by INFO CELL).
  • The Central Library reserves the right to assess user behavior and take disciplinary action in case of any violations.
  • Members must be ready to show valid identification when requested.
  • Outerwear, bags, files, umbrellas, and personal books must be deposited at the property counter before entering.
  • Personal books are not allowed inside the library.
  • Mobile phone use is strictly prohibited inside the library.
  • Food or refreshments are not permitted anywhere in the library.
  • Loud conversations and disturbances are not allowed; maintain silence at all times.
  • The library is a space for focused study—maintain dignity and calm.
  • Always check books before borrowing. Report any damage or missing pages in advance.
  • Borrowers are held responsible for any damage found upon return.
  • All textbooks must be returned before the due date.
  • Return documents on time to ensure fair access for all users.
  • Fines apply to overdue books, and borrowing privileges will be withheld until dues are cleared.
  • Members with repeated late returns (more than three times) may face reduced borrowing limits.
  • The librarian may recall any borrowed document at any time.
  • Do not reshelve books; leave them on designated tables or trolleys to avoid misplacement.
  • Handle all materials with care. Writing, marking, or damaging library property is prohibited.
  • Lost or damaged items must be replaced or compensated as per librarian’s assessment.
  • Notify the library of any change in address during your membership period.
  • All borrowed items must be returned before going on extended leave.
  • Sub-lending of borrowed materials is not allowed.
  • Present all borrowed materials at the exit for verification by security.
  • Security may inspect personal belongings at the gate, including issued books.
  • Suggestions for new books or service improvements are welcome.
  • Misbehavior or misconduct with staff may result in suspension of membership.
  • The librarian reserves the right to cancel membership or deny entry to anyone violating library rules.
  • Photography is strictly prohibited inside the library.

Registration & Membership Policy

At KLE Tech, students, faculty, staff, and research scholars are eligible library users. We also extend membership to our constituent colleges and partner organizations or industries.
