At KLE Law College, we have constituted the Student Representatives Committee to proactively engage our student community in the life of the college.

From 2012 to 2016, class teachers nominated student representatives for various college activities. Recognizing the need for a more student-oriented approach, we established the Student Council from the 2016–17 academic year onwards, inviting applications from each class annually.

Applications from the respective class teachers are submitted to our core committee, which consists of the Principal, Academic Coordinator, and faculty representatives. This committee shortlists candidates and conducts interviews. Eligibility for the Student Council is based on academic performance, attendance, and participation in curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities:

  • 1st Year Students: Academic performance in pre-university or previous degree and participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
  • Subsequent Year Students: Attendance in previous semesters, academic performance, and active participation in curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.
Shortlisted students are interviewed by a panel, and the final selection is processed by the core committee.
The Student Council plays an integral role in coordinating various curricular, co-curricular, and extension activities of the college. Activities commence with the Inauguration of college events and Fresher’s Day celebrations and continue with seminars, conferences, and workshops. The Council has actively assisted in conducting events such as the Louis M. Brown International Client Consultation & Interviewing Competition, Ad-Infinitum, and the 1st and 2nd Surana & Surana National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competitions (2017 and 2018).

Our Student Council also contributes significantly to student welfare and college policy-making. Council members serve on statutory committees such as the Anti-Ragging Committee and Girl Student Grievance Cell, helping to identify and address student concerns effectively.
In addition, the Council organizes extension and community activities including NSS programs, blood donation camps, awareness walks, and environmental initiatives. Cultural celebrations such as Kannada Rajyotsava and Ganesh Utsav are also conducted under their guidance.
The Council meets once every semester to review its activities, plan for the future, and coordinate with other committees. The visionary role of our student members ensures the Council remains efficient and effective, contributing to the overall excellence and glory of KLE Law College.
