Idea, development, Evaluation & Application

At our Belagavi campus, the AICTE IDEA (Idea, Development, Evaluation, and Application) Lab is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The Lab encourages students to apply the fundamentals of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on learning and experimentation.

Our objective is to enhance both the employment and self-employment potential of our graduates while fostering entrepreneurship, start-up creation, and open innovation. The IDEA Lab serves as a co-creative ecosystem, linking academia with industry and enabling students to contribute directly to technological change in critical sectors of the economy.

With its state-of-the-art infrastructure, the IDEA Lab provides end-to-end facilities for product development, multidisciplinary projects, and start-ups—making it a true launchpad from Lab to Market. By collaborating with industries and institutions, we help students transform innovative ideas into practical solutions. Faculty development programs, research initiatives, and advanced equipment ensure that both students and faculty are empowered to push the boundaries of innovation.

At our Belagavi campus, the AICTE IDEA Lab is a dynamic space where creativity meets collaboration. By integrating with our advanced facilities—Learning Factory, Skill Development Centre, IoT/Embedded Labs, and project-based practices (Mini/Minor/Micro/MDP/IDP)—we enable students to take ideas from prototype to product. Here, both students and faculty transform real-time challenges into practical solutions, nurturing creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.

Through a design-thinking approach, we bring together diverse disciplines—electronics and communication, computer science, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, and more—to tackle complex societal problems. The IDEA Lab fosters entrepreneurship, supports open innovation, and strengthens our vision of building a self-reliant, innovation-driven ecosystem. Our specific objectives are:
  • To set up, equip, and network co-creative IDEA Labs that help students generate, develop, and commercialize innovative ideas through entrepreneurship or open innovation.
  • To foster student entrepreneurship and start-up creation by improving infrastructure, entrepreneurial culture, and skills.
  • To promote open innovation as a new model of partnership among academia, industry, and society.
  • To revise and adapt curricula to integrate entrepreneurial skills and problem-based learning.
Aligned with national priorities such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, and responsive to the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), the IDEA Lab prepares young engineers to impact sectors like healthcare, ICT, agriculture, manufacturing, and electronics—while addressing both global and local needs.
