The M.Tech in Design Engineering at KLE Tech is a 2-year (4-semester) postgraduate program offered by the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This program prepares aspiring engineers for dynamic roles in product design, R&D, and industrial problem-solving.
Focusing on mechanical systems and design innovation, the curriculum integrates structural integrity, failure prevention, and the use of advanced simulation tools. Students gain hands-on training through labs, industry-relevant tools, and real-time design challenges—emerging as future-ready professionals for both academia and core industries.
Graduates will demonstrate technical competence in design of products, processes and systems as a solution to complex problems applying research and sustainability principles incorporating modern computing tools.
Graduates will be competent in their managerial roles striving towards attainment of professional and organizational goals with due adherence to professional ethics, team expectations and sensitivities of cultural diversity
Graduates will practice engineering professions in corporate and governmental settings to meet stakeholder needs, thereby contributing to societal development.
Graduates will continuously upgrade to become proficient practitioners, engage in adapting new knowledge and skills to meet the expectations of ever changing industry and pursue new careers.
An ability to independently carry out research /investigation and development work to solve practical problems.
An ability to write and present a substantial technical report/document.
Students should be able to demonstrate a degree of mastery over the area as per the specialization of the program. The mastery should be at a level higher than the requirements in the appropriate bachelor program.
Ability to use modern computational tools in modeling, simulation and analysis of Design Engineering related problems with an understanding of their limitations.
An ability to select and integrate products and processes that account for long-term consumer satisfaction and environmental conservation.
